Roopkund Lake is known as the lake of skeletons, which is famous for hundreds of ancient human skeletons found in the lake and surrounding area.
Due to the cold weather there, this lake is often covered with snow for most of the year. When the ice of that lake melts, the human skeleton inside the lake gets visible.

According to researchers, the skeletons in the lake are the remains of a group of people from the 9th century who were killed during a severe hail storm.

This is one of the most popular horrible trekking destinations in India.
