Tunnel no 33 also known as Barog tunnel is named after Colonel Barog. This is one of the longest and straight tunnels built on the Kalka-Shimla railway track which is one of the popular tourist spots. This tunnel is famous for its unique horror story. In 1898, Colonel Barog, an English railway engineer was appointed to build this tunnel. unfortunately, due to some wrong decisions, he was not able to complete the given task on time. The poor engineer was scrolled by the English government and charged with a heavy fine. Being insulted badly, one day he committed suicide by firing himself. the burnt body of the engineer was buried near that incomplete tunnel.
